Delivery Setup Facebook Ads

This guide explains how to configure the Facebook Ads integration on our platform using the information provided by the customer.

1. Prerequisites

Ensure you have the following details from the customer:

  • Ad Account ID
  • Confirmation that the customer has authorized our app to access their Facebook Ads account
  • CDP Address Book details, including the groups they want to sync.

2. Configure the Facebook Ads Integration

Steps to Configure API Access:

  1. Log in to the Marketplace platform.
  2. Navigate to the Integrations > Facebook Ads section.
  3. Click on Create Integration and provide a descriptive name (e.g., "Facebook Ads Production Integration").
  4. Enter the following details provided by the customer
  5. Save the integration to establish the connection.

3. Configure CDP Address Book Sync

Steps to Sync Groups:

  1. In the Marketplace platform, navigate to the Integration Details section under Facebook Ads.
  2. Click on Manage Groups.
  3. Select the groups from the Address Book that the customer wants to sync.
  4. Save the changes, then you can go back and sync the data

Cron Expression for Scheduled Syncing:

  • If the customer wants to schedule automatic syncing of groups, configure the Cron Expression in the Integration Details section.
  • Example: A cron expression can be set to sync data daily, weekly, or at a custom interval.

4. How the Sync Works

For reference, this is what happens during each sync:

  1. Audience Setup — For each selected AddressBook group:
    • Checks if a Custom Audience with the same name already exists in the customer's Ad Account.
    • If it exists, reuses the existing Custom Audience.
    • If not, creates a new Custom Audience with the same name as the AddressBook group.
  2. Contact Sync — For each group:
    • Retrieves contacts from the AddressBook group.
    • Filters out contacts without email addresses and unsubscribed contacts.
    • Hashes email addresses using SHA-256 — raw emails are never shared with Facebook.
    • Uploads hashed emails to the corresponding Custom Audience in batches of 1,000.

5. Important Notes

  • Token Validity — The integration uses a System User Access Token that never expires. The customer does not need to re-authorize periodically.
  • Data Privacy — Email addresses are hashed (SHA-256) before being sent to Facebook. Plain-text emails are never shared.
  • Match Rate — Not all contacts will match on Facebook. This is expected — Facebook can only match emails registered on their platform.
  • Unsubscribed Contacts — Contacts marked as unsubscribed in the AddressBook are automatically excluded from the sync.
  • Custom Audience Naming — Custom Audiences in Facebook Ads Manager will have the same name as the AddressBook groups.
  • Re-authorization — If the customer needs to change which Ad Accounts the integration can access, they need to go through the authorization flow again.
