Invite people from the **Pending Invitations** tab in the User Management view of the Governance portal. You choose the roles up front, so they have access as soon as they accept.

You need the Governance **Editor** permission on the account.

## Steps

1. Open **User Management**, then the **Pending Invitations** tab.
2. Choose the type of access:
   - **Platform:** a CM.com Platform role, sent to Platform directly.
   - **Resource-based:** roles on specific resources, handled by Governance.
3. Enter the **email address** of each person. Use one email per person.
4. Choose the **scope**: an account or the whole organization.
5. Choose the **roles**. For resource-based access, also choose the application and resource.
6. Send the invitation.

The Platform option only appears for users with Governance admin rights.

## What happens next

- Each email is handled on its own. If one fails, the others still go through.
- The invitation shows in **Pending Invitations**, with its roles and expiry.
- When the person accepts and their CM.com account is matched by email, the pending roles become real [role assignments](https://docs.cm.com/governance/guides/core-concepts/role-assignments).

## Cancel an invitation

Revoke it from **Pending Invitations**. This removes the invitation and all its roles at once.
